Tullverket is looking for a Data Manager

Tullverket is an authority with significant data resources and ambitions to utilize these more effectively to strengthen our mission to create a safe and secure society.

We are on an exciting journey of change where we modernize how we manage, share, and use data to meet needs both within and outside Tullverket.

A large part of the change work is conducted within the cross-governmental development area of Data and Analysis, which in turn is divided into the delivery areas of Data, BI, and AI.

The Data delivery area is in an expansive and exciting phase. You will join a strategically important area under development and become a key player in making our data assets searchable, usable, and shareable effectively. You will also help shape both your own role and our common work processes and direction. The work is agile and cross-functional, consisting of competencies from IT, operations, data, and law.

About the position

We are looking for a data manager who is attracted to creating order and clarity and making Tullverket's data usable over time.

As a data manager, you will work closely with both core operations and support functions, as well as your colleagues within the Data delivery area. You need to be able to understand how the organization produces and uses data to describe, document, and harmonize it to make data easier to use. An important part of the job is to contribute to the development of a common way to understand and manage data regardless of system or operational area. The role will provide an opportunity to deeply understand Tullverket's data and the central systems, processes, and regulations that govern data provision.

In short: you, together with other roles within the Data delivery area, create the conditions that make our data assets easier to use in everything from operational work to complex analyses and business development.

Are you the one we are looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in a relevant field or experience we deem equivalent
  • Experience in information management, data governance, or similar work.
  • Good understanding of conceptual models such as information models and concept models
  • Experience in metadata management from multiple perspectives.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to information security and personal data processing (e.g., GDPR)
  • Good skills in using and understanding data in various formats (sql, json, xml, etc.)
  • Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and English
  • Swedish citizenship

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or similar
  • Experience with data platforms and tools in the area, such as data catalogs, models, and tools for terminology/code lists, tools for monitoring and/or reporting data quality.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies, processes, and standards for data management
  • Good experience working cross-functionally between operations and IT
  • Experience in data sharing and making data accessible
  • Knowledge and understanding of data analysis
  • Experience in public sector work
  • Experience with agile working methods

It is important that you have the ability to see the big picture, can identify and leverage synergies to achieve common goals.

Location: We prefer the location to be at one of our main offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg, or Malmö, but we are also open to alternative locations at one of Tullverket's existing fixed locations.

Employment type: The position is a permanent employment and may start with a 6-month probationary period, and individual salary setting applies.

Start date: by agreement.

We have high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. Before a hiring decision is made, you will undergo a drug test and background check. Security clearance with register control according to the Security Protection Act will be conducted before employment, as the position is classified. Tullverket is a total defense authority and upon employment, you may be placed in a military position within Tullverket.
